Frequently Asked Questions
Students will be using standards-based online curriculum as their primary sources of online learning.
Middle School students will have a personalized curriculum that meets the standard state requirements and prepares them to succeed in a rigorous secondary program.
SOAR will follow the Michigan Merit Curriculum, which requires 18 credits to earn a high school diploma. High School students must earn the following:
Math 4 credits
Science 3 credits
PE/Health 1 credit
ELA 4 credits
Social Studies 3 credits
Visual/performing arts 1 credit
World Language 2 credits
Students who meet the graduation requirements of the South Redford School District will earn a South Redford High School Diploma. If the student completes the requirements by May 30th, they will have the opportunity to walk in the annual commencement ceremony held at Thurston High School.
Resident students who have completed a minimum of 20 credits by end the first semester of their senior year, and are in good standing, may transfer back to Thurston to complete their high school education and earn a Thurston High School Diploma.
